It's back, and better than ever: the 2024 Mongol Derby is almost upon us. As the excitement, tension and rider nerves build, we're taking a look at the brave jockeys gearing up to tackle the steppe next week.

1,000km later, the August 2022 Mongol Derby comes to a close on a blissful sunny day as our final extraordinary riders make it home to join the party.

A Viking makes an early bid to conquer the Mongolian steppe, "Munchies" attempts to bury his jockey in order to better access his lunch, and the heat is on for both horses and riders.

All 46 riders of the August 2022 Mongol Derby pass through start camp with only a few unplanned dismounts, nervously bedded down for the last time before the start gun fires tomorrow.

And just like that, it's all over: each of the remaining glorious July 2022 Mongol Derby riders has crossed the finish line. It's time to party. We'll be back on 10 August, for this summer's bonus round of Derby action.
